Schnapps (Barley) Update
Poor Schnapps (Barley) - Homer has been hogging all the attention on the blog. I love Barley and so desperately want him to find his forever home. He is such a good guy, so smart and loving. But he is an anxious dog around strangers and we are working so hard to overcome this. He is definitely much more comfortable with females - my 16 granddaughter visited the other day and he loved her from the minute she walked thru the door. No fear, no barking at her, no running away, just sheer delight. He sat with his head on her knee the whole time. Much different than his reaction to my older grandson, whom he wanted to like, but was so afraid of. He just barked at him and turned tail and ran if my grandson took a step in his direction. It takes time to overcome the trauma he has suffered, but I am sure we can do it. Barley needs a special female, with another dog for company, (he loves to play and is great with any other animal) a big yard so he can run, a loving heart and lots of patience to help him regain his trust of all humans. I can promise you that he is well worth the effort.
