Out of the blue, an angel has swept into Davey's life and offered to cover the cost of his cataract surgery. I was not only amazed, thankful beyond words, but filled with joy that this little guy is going to be able to view the world again. And when all is said and done, the angel is considering giving Davey the forever home he is deserving of.
I cannot began to express how much this has touched me. This is the best little guy in the world. The only thing he asks is that you help him on and off the couch. Lately, no easy feat since he is becoming rather portly. Perhaps he and Grandma Junie should start walking every day - we will start tomorrow, if the conditions are right. He still has his crazy time every day, when he races around, throwing his bunny in the air. Then back to the couch. He likes to lay over the arm so he can watch me and all that is going on throughout the house.
Rooney is another sweetheart - I am so blessed to have such good dogs as my fosters. Rooney is an avid hunter - if he can't find a squirrel to chase up the tree - he will settle for a toad. Fascinated with them. I keep trying to tell him they don't taste good, so he doesn't try to eat them. Just pokes them around with his nose and barks at them. He seems to have discovered all their hiding spots, and ferrets them out like a hound. Inside, I can tell by the tone of his bark when he has found one and have to go out and rescue it.
I used to just put them on the other side of the fence, but that frustrated him and he would just stand and bark at it through the fence. So now I carry them in, close the back door, leaving Rooney out, as I release the toad in the front yard. When I reopen the door, he tears around the house, sure that the toad is in here aomewhere. He is the type of dog that needs that mental stimulation!!
